The books title is a little misleading to me because it says "Urban Foraging, Finding and eating wild plants in the city". I expected more detail and some color pictures for comparison to help me in my quest for Urban Foraging.

But then again, I also expected this to be a field guide too/5(18). Botanical observation and instruction is possible in the city if one follows intriguing suggestions of the Schneiders on city gardening and experimentation.

Of course, there is copious information at the beginning about how plants make food for themselves and are adapted to their environment. Indoor gardening — where the young gardener may enjoy growing specialities like avocado plants and.

Linda Yang does an excellent job of discussing basic design and also recommending plants that do well in urban conditions (as well as explaining details such as how large certain plants will grow, whether they need constant watering, amount of sun desired)/5(7).

Originally published in German, this book follows Anna and Benjamin as they move to a new house and work hard to fix up the garden. They clear out debris, set up little garden plots, grow grass, and sow flower and vegetable seeds. Throughout the spring and summer they tend to the garden, harvest, make friends, and learn a lot about plants/5.

It follows the story of two siblings who have moved to a new house with a big backyard. We get to see them plant their own gardens and the friendship they develop with fellow gardener Luke, a boy in a wheelchair next door.

We see their plants/gardens go through all the seasons. I don't even need my boys around to read this book - I enjoy it on /5(9). The resources section is likely very out of date, as well as the focus on mail-order catalogs/5(7). Local legend says that Henry B. Plant never came to Plant City, Florida, the town named for him.

That may be true; however, he played a significant role in the development of the city. In the mids, he extended his South Florida Railroad through Plant City, providing a means for growth and prosperity.3/5(2).
